Memory is Ritual: A Remembrance of Ourselves by The Beautiful Project explores the memories we are recalling and relearning about our minds, bodies, and spirits. Through self portraits, poetry, and film, we will offer reflections of these memories that bring the rituals of lament, release, and hope into remembrance.
This exhibition is curated by creative director Khayla Deans featuring filmmaker Pasha Gray, poet Aeran Baskin, and photographers Damola Akintunde, Jamaica Gilmer, Kaci Kennedy, and Winnie Okwakol.
Memory is Ritual is part of the NC Artist Connection exhibition that is on display from September 4, 2021-February 13, 2022. Organized by the NC Museum of Art, the NC Artist Connection will also feature the work of Stephen Hayes and Hồng-Ân Trương.
